Tall Fescue and Perennial Rye grasses are tufting lawns, so you’ll need to use a different method to repair dead spots than other types of lawn.
Tall Fescue or Rye won’t spread naturally to open soil, so there are two options for repairing dead spots.
- It is to remove the soil and grass, and then replace it with better soil. In two weeks, the seed will begin to grow.
- You can also take some grass from an area of your lawn and dig it up, then plant it.
There are usually sections that you can dig from around the edges of gardens that can be taken out. The turf plugs should be planted at the same height with the rest of your lawn.
